We are about to start the second stage of a collaboration with Institute of Bioscience, aiming at classifying flying and sitting birds in aerial survey images. In the first stage we focused on prototyping segmentation and classification methods and in the second part we will improve and help integrate the classification into their existing pipeline.

Its been a while since we received a developer preview of Kinect 2 for windows, but we forgot to let you all know about it. It came in a decorated box. Well protected. All shiny and street with it’s stickers 🙂 It’s good looking and definitely will be much easier to integrate in an installation than its predecessor. It’s a regular box with two cameras one hidden and one visible, so the front needs to be unobstructed for the device…

We have just released a 3D graph visualization javascript tool for visualizing position based height data incapsulated in a webpage. At construction time an array of longitude, latitude and altitude is passed to the tool, which generates the basic graph. In an additional argument static markers can be added to the graph. These markings can be interval markings placed several times along the distance the graph represent or just once. Markings can be a custom image or a default dot…

Augmented reality is your digital layer on reality. With augmented reality you have new opportunities to develop your products, to involve your users and to create branding. The National Gallery of Denmark, Redia and the Alexandra Institute developed an app that could bring a Hammershøi painting to life. We have been involved right from the start and we take part in the latest research. Therefore you will be 3-5 years ahead of your competitors if you collaborate with us.

The Computer Graphics Lab at the Alexandra Institute invites you to give yourself the Christmas present of attending this afternoon of VFX niceness. See exiting new technical possibilities from people in the heart of the digital content creation industry. Hope to see you there! About a month ago we wrote about our shader-based heat shimmer effect. Another effect we developed for the Danfoss-experience project is illustrated in the video below. It tries to reproduce the effect of a window or mirror steaming up entirely as a shader. Our method uses a gradient image $$G$$ which dictates the overall “growth” of the steam. A variable $$t$$ is animated over time from 0 to 2 and the amount of steam $$s$$ for a given position $$mathbf{x}$$…
